Job description

What we do

No matter if you’re the biggest sports fanatic, have a ‘minor’ shoe addiction or you own just one pair of sneakers, you know that finding the “perfect” shoes can be challenging. We’re here to help people find that perfect fitting shoes every single time. We have created a way to make a 3D scan of your feet and match that profile with our own (and the world’s largest) database of 3D scanned shoes. Our goal is to inspire people to do what they love in maximum comfort, whether it’s running a marathon, dancing all night or simply going for a stroll in the park. As an employer, we strive to translate this philosophy into a happy and balanced lifestyle for all our team members, giving them the opportunity to grow and thrive while doing what they love.

The fit we hope to find

We are looking for an experienced Computer Vision Engineer to join our core team, working on new and existing products. As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will be working on many products related to computer vision – from point cloud processing, to categorization, and segmentation. In this role you will collaborate closely with different engineering and R&D teams across our Athens and Ljubljana offices.
If you have experience in a similar role in a high paced or scale up environment, and you bring in a healthy dose of love for footwear, sports and tech, do read on!

What you'll do

As a Computer Vision Engineer, you will be responsible to build and maintain the most important components of our system: our vision-based foot scanner deployed in thousands of stores in 60 countries; and our x-ray based shoe scanner that has been used to scan millions of shoes. As part of your role you will combine your strong knowledge in point cloud and visual data processing to deliver robust and accurate solutions. Additionally, you will get to be involved in other products such as recognition of shoes from images, automatic categorization, segmentation of objects etc.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Point cloud processing to deliver full 3D models of a person's feet using depth cameras
  • Automatic camera calibration with visual and point cloud landmarks, and development of solutions for monitoring the quality of calibration of our existing fleet of scanners
  • Selection and integration (e.g. developing drivers) of depth cameras for our system
  • Partnering with our ML engineers on automatic categorization and recognition of shoes from shoe images and other projects
  • X-ray image segmentation for shoe scanning
As part of your work you will be collaborating closely with other engineers with extensive experience in CV, ML/DL and back-end engineering. You will get to contribute to the core IP of our company and develop solutions for some really hard problems.

Job requirements

What you bring

  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field (Masters or PhD preferred)
  • At least 5 years of professional hands-on experience in computer vision;
  • You need to master the main principles of computer vision (camera calibration in 3D, edge detection, lines, spheres and other objects detection, segmentation, classification etc.)
  • You need to master point cloud processing (filtering, surface reconstruction, merging point clouds, shape from multiple cameras or motion, object reconstruction etc.)
  • Knowledge about the traditional CV methods as well as machine and deep learning methods
  • Strong programming experience in a modern object-oriented language (e.g., Python, C++, Java)

Any of the following would be a plus:

  • Experience with Matlab for CV and point cloud processing
  • OpenCV, PCL or similar tools for building production-ready solutions
  • Experience with Intel RealSense cameras
  • Experience with Android/iOS for processing images and point clouds

Who you are

  • An intrinsically driven professional, able to work independently with little direction
  • An excellent communicator, fluent in English (written & verbal)
  • A problem solver, who is great at dealing with ambiguity and comes up with simple solutions to complex problems
  • A curious individual, with the drive to acquire new skills, to provide and receive feedback and to develop yourself
  • Someone who gets things done, is strongly biased for actions and thrives in cross-functional and fast-paced environments
